China: 6.5-magnitude earthquake hits Sichuan province August 8

The US Geological Survey (USGS) reported that a 6.5-magnitude earthquake struck in the west-central province of Sichuan at approximately 13:19 (UTC) on Tuesday, August 8. According to the USGS, the epicenter of the quake was 200 km (120 mi) northwest of Guangyuan at a depth of 10 km (6 mi). There are no immediate reports of damage in the area, although that could change as further information is still emerging.
