La Libertad regional authorities have declared Friday, September 22, to be a non-working holiday for Trujillo province, in observance of the 67th International Spring Festival of Trujillo. Over 2000 Peruvian national police officers and some 400 civil security officers will oversee the celebrations in coordination with local fire departments at several checkpoints around the festival location. The spring parade (corso), the main event of the festival, will start at Mansiche Avenue and end at Costa Rica Avenue. Expect heightened security measures and traffic disruptions in Trujillo during the festival, especially surrounding the parade route.

Context

The city of Trujillo's is popularly known as the "City of Eternal Spring," a moniker celebrated annually by its International Spring Festival. It is one of Peru's largest festivals, and is attended by both Peruvians and thousands of international tourists. A spring parade (corso), complete with floats of colorful flowers and beauty contestants, is a highlight of the festivities; other attractions include horse shows, fashion shows, poetry recitals, and a marinera dance contest, among others.
