Air Berlin to cease all operations October 28; long haul flights to be discontinued by October 15

On October 10, Air Berlin announced that it will cease all of its flight operations on or before October 28 after the low-cost carrier was forced to file for insolvency on August 15. As a reminder, all long-haul flights will be discontinued by Sunday, October 15. Flights operated by Air Berlin’s Austrian subsidiary Niki will continue to operate.

Context

Air Berlin had previously announced that all canceled tickets purchased before August 15 would not be reimbursed due to insolvency regulations. On October 5, the airline confirmed that at least 100,000 passengers would lose their tickets.
