Indefinite strike by Avianca pilots launched September 20 continues as of October 2; approximately half of flights canceled
Event
An indefinite strike launched by Avianca pilots on September 20 continues as of Monday, October 2. During the first 12 days of the strike, Colombia’s national airline was forced to cancel approximately half of their normally scheduled flights, affecting some 250,000 passengers. Further disruptions, including flight delays, are to be anticipated throughout the duration of the strike.
The airline has asked the courts to declare the strike illegal and force the more than 700 pilots currently on strike to return to work. The Bogotá Supreme Court is expected to address the issue on Wednesday.

Travelers are advised to confirm the status of their flights prior to departure for the airport.
