France: River Seine flooding continues in Paris Jan. 28

High water levels in the River Seine continue to cause flooding and associated disruption on Sunday, January 28. The Seine has continued to rise overnight in Paris to reach 5.78 m (18.96 ft) on Sunday morning. The river is expected to reach its peak in the coming hours.

Orange flood alerts issued by the French meteorological authorities Météo France remain in effect in some 12 departments in the north and east of the country - including the Paris region. Due to flooding along the Seine River in the capital, all Paris stations on the RER C commuter rail line - Saint-Michel Notre-Dame, Musée d'Orsay, Invalides, Pont de l'Alma, Champ de Mars, Avenue du Président Kennedy, and Boulainvilliers - will remain closed until at least January 31. Significant disruptions to river and road travel in the capital have also been reported.  Some 1,000 residents in the greater Paris region have been evacuated from their homes, while power cuts have been reported across the affected regions.

The other concerned departments are: Val-d’Oise, Yvelines, Seine-et-Marne, Marne, Aube, Yonne, Meuse, Haute-Marne, Doubs, Jura, and Saône-et-Loire.
