France: Travel disruptions due to snow continue Feb. 7 /update 2

The French weather service Météo France continues to issue orange alerts for a large number of center-north departments due to snow and icy conditions for Wednesday, February 7. Most affected areas - including the capital Paris - are expected to receive further snowfall throughout the day.

Travel disruptions are to be expected, including flight delays and possible cancelations at airports in Paris, Lille, and Nantes. All bus services in Paris remain suspended as of Wednesday morning (local time). Paris region commuter rail services (RER and Transilien) are also facing severe disruptions, as well as the Paris metro to a lesser extent. SNCF, the national rail operator, has advised all customers in Île-de-France (Greater Paris region) to postpone nonessential travel as of Wednesday morning.

School buses have been suspended in all or parts of the departments of Orne, Eure, Seine-Saint-Denis, Essonne, Yvelines, Seine-et-Marne, and Marne, as well as the Centre-Val de Loire region. Authorities have requested that those in affected areas avoid driving personal vehicles due to dangerous road conditions.
