Significant road closures for Tel Aviv Marathon on February 23
Event
The annual Tel Aviv Marathon will take place on Friday, February 23, beginning at 06:00 (local time), with up to 100,000 people in attendance (runners and spectators). Significant transportation disruptions are anticipated on the marathon route. Many roads will be closed from 04:00 until 13:30, including:
- Rokach Boulevard
- Levi Eshkol Boulevard
- HaYarkon Street
- Kaufmann Street
- Retsif Herbert Samuel
- Dizengoff Street
- Allenby Street
- Rothschild Boulevard
- Ben Gurion Boulevard
- Ibn Gabirol Street
An increased security presence is expected throughout the city for the duration of the marathon.
Context
The Tel Aviv Marathon has been held annually from 1981 to 1994 and from 2009 to present. Approximately 40,000 competitors take part in the race each year.
Advice
Individuals in the Tel Aviv-Yafo area should be prepared for significant transportation disruptions along the route of the marathon. Remain vigilant and report any suspicious objects or individuals to the police.
