Peru: Latin American Wings stripped of operating license

Chilean airline Latin American Wings loses license to operate in Peru, effective March 4; temporary 12-license granted

Warning

Event

Peru’s civil aviation body DGAC suspended the operating license of the Chilean airline Latin American Wings (LAW), effective 00:01 (local time) on Sunday, March 4. However, a temporary 12-day license has been granted so that no travelers will be left stranded. After this 12-day grace period (ending March 15), no LAW flights will be permitted to fly to or from Peruvian airports.

Context

LAW typically operates flights between Lima (Peru) and Santiago (Chile). The punitive measure is in response to a series of flight delays and cancelations.

Advice

Travelers are advised to use alternate airlines and to contact LAW for more information.
