The PIT-CNT union has called for a four-hour general strike to take place on Thursday, March 22, starting at 09:00 (local time). Workers from various sectors represented by the umbrella union - including transportation workers, healthcare workers, bankers, and teachers - will take part. As such, service disruptions are to be anticipated. An associated march will be held in the capital Montevideo; demonstrators will gather at the University of the Republic at 10:00 before marching to Plaza Libertad.

Context

The strike is being held to call for better employment opportunities, higher salaries, and an improved education system, among other demands.
