Thailand: Buri Ram Airport closed April 2

Event

Buri Ram Airport (BFV) was closed all day Monday, April 2, due to a disabled Nok Air plane that blocked the airport's only runway. The airport is expected to reopen on April 3; residual disruptions are possible.

Context

Due to these disruptions, all Nok Air and Thai AirAsia flights through BFV on Monday were diverted to airports in Roi Et and Ubon Ratchathani.

Travelers are advised to confirm the status of their flights prior to departure for the airport as a precaution. On a related note, travelers flying in and out of Bangkok's Don Mueang Airport (DMK) should note that ongoing roadwork in the area has been causing traffic congestion and increased journey times, notably on long weekends. This work is expected to continue until September 2018.
