France: Continued Air France strikes April 7-24 /update 4

Air France staff set to strike on April 7, 10, 11, 17, 18, 23, and 24; significant flight delays and cancelations expected

Warning

Event

Unions representing Air France and Joon pilots, flight attendants, and ground crew staff are planning to hold strikes on April 7, 10, 11, 17, 18, 23, and 24. The last three scheduled strike days will coincide with strikes already scheduled by the SNCF, France’s national rail operator. Unless averted, the strikes are expected to cause significant flight disruptions (delays and cancelations). However, flights operated by other Air France partner airlines and subsidiaries - including HOP!, KLM, and Delta - should not be affected.

Context

Ten unions representing Air France staff have called for the strikes to demand salary increases after years of wage stagnation. Similar strikes were held on February 22, March 23, March 30, and April 3, and resulted in considerable flight cancelations.

Advice

Potentially impacted travelers are advised to verify the status of their flights prior to departure for the airport and to contact the airline for more information.
