Singapore: Uber app operational until April 15
Uber app to stay operational until April 15 in Singapore before being deactivated
Event
On April 6, the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore (CCCS) decided that the Uber app, which was due to be deactivated on April 8, will now remain operational until April 15. Uber has decided to suspend its services in Singapore after a deal to sell its Southeast Asian operations to rival Grab. Uber is already winding down its operations throughout Southeast Asia and has asked customers and drivers to transition to Grab's platform.
Context
Days after the deal was announced, the CCCS began an investigation; it was ruled in March that the two companies had infringed the Competition Act.
Advice
Individuals present in Singapore are advised to contact Uber or Grab for more details.
