Anti-government protest in Lima (Plaza San Martín) June 5 from 18:00; avoid area as a precaution

A demonstration is set to take place in the capital Lima on Tuesday, June 5. Demonstrators will gather at Plaza San Martín beginning at 18:00 (local time) to denounce government corruption as well as rising fuel prices. The gathering will likely remain non-violent, although clashes between protests and security forces cannot be ruled out. Localized traffic disruptions are also possible.

Smaller protests are possible on Tuesday elsewhere in the country. Related protests were held on May 31 in Lima, Puno, and Juliaca.
