Red alerts for snow in various southern regions of Peru extended through June 9

The national weather service SENAMHI has issued red alerts, the highest level, for areas in the south of the country due to ongoing snow and rainfall expected to continue through Saturday, June 9. The red alerts are in place in high elevation areas of the following regions: Puno, Moquegua, Tacna, Cusco, and Arequipa. Lower orange and yellow are alerts are also in place in Apurímac, Ayacucho, Huancavelica, Lima, and Junín.

Associated transportation disruptions are possible.
