US: Water main break in Philadelphia floods streets, causes road closures July 3
Streets in Center City neighborhood of Philadelphia damaged by flooding from water main burst; localized transportation disruptions reported

A water main burst around 04:00 (local time) near the intersection of Sansom and Juniper streets in the Center City neighborhood of Philadelphia on Tuesday, July 3. Local officials estimate that 57 million liters (15 million gallons) of water flooded nearby streets, damaging pavement and leaving behind muddy debris. Officials predict that the damage will take days for the city to clean up. The city of Philadelphia has closed streets located between Broad, 11th, Chestnut, and Locust streets until further notice. The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority has accordingly detoured bus routes 9, 12, 21, 23, 42, and 45.
