Red alerts for snow in various southern regions of Peru July 13-15

The national weather service SENAMHI has issued red alerts, the highest level, for areas in the south of the country due to snow and rainfall forecast for Friday, July 13, through Sunday, July 15. The red alerts are in place in high elevation areas of the following regions: Arequipa, Moquegua, Puno, and Tacna, where snowfall surpassing 15 cm (6 in) is expected. Lower orange and yellow are alerts are also in place in Apurimac, Ayacucho, Cusco, Huancavelica, and Junín.

Associated transportation disruptions and power outages are possible.
