Morocco: At least two RAM flights canceled in pilot labor dispute July 18
Royal Air Maroc (RAM) pilots refuse schedule and staffing changes July 18 in labor dispute with management; at least two flights canceled as of July 18
Event
On Wednesday, July 18, Royal Air Maroc (RAM) pilots' union AMPL launched a "movement" to disrupt airline activity. Although the majority of RAM flights on Wednesday were not affected, at least two flights were canceled as of 17:30 (local time) as pilots refused staffing and schedule changes. In a public statement on July 18, RAM's CEO warned pilots against striking, saying a strike would be to the detriment of all involved parties. AMPL members maintained that the union did not declare a strike, asserting that any canceled flights are the result of chronic understaffing of pilots. As of July 18, it was unclear whether flight disruptions would spread in the near-term or when the dispute would be resolved.
Advice
Travelers are advised to confirm the status of their flights prior to departure for the airport and to contact the airline for more information.
