Luxembourg: Heat alerts in effect nationwide July 26

The Network of European Meteorological Services (EUMETNET) has issued a red heat alert - the highest level - for the southern half of Luxembourg, in effect as of the morning of Thursday, July 26 (local time). Temperatures surpassing 36°C (99°F) are forecast. A lower orange alert is also in place for the northern half, with temperatures as high as 35°C (97°C) expected. The alerts are currently scheduled to remain in effect until Thursday evening.

These high temperatures could be hazardous to health, particularly for the elderly, young children, and people suffering from chronic illnesses such as cardiac issues, hypertension, and diabetes. Symptoms of heatstroke include high fever, hot, red, dry skin, headache, nausea, drowsiness, intense thirst, confusion, convulsions, and loss of consciousness.
