France: Heat alerts remain in effect in majority of country /update 9
Heat advisories issued for 67 departments throughout the country August 6-7; associated health risks

As of Monday, August 6, orange heatwave alerts issued by the national weather service Météo France remain in effect in 67 departments throughout the country, including the Paris region. The warnings are currently set to remain in place until at least 21:00 (local time) on August 7. Highs of up to 39°C (102°F) are forecast for concerned areas.

This heat could be hazardous to health, particularly for the elderly, young children, and people suffering from chronic illnesses such as cardiac issues, hypertension, and diabetes. Symptoms of heatstroke include high fever, hot, red, dry skin, headache, nausea, drowsiness, intense thirst, confusion, convulsions, and loss of consciousness.
