Sweden: Demonstrations planned in Stockholm September 7

The far-right Alternative for Sweden (AfS) party is planning to hold a rally in Stockholm on Friday, September 7. Supporters will gather in the Kungsträdgården (King's Garden) park starting at 12:00 (local time). A counter-demonstration against racism and Nazism is also scheduled to take place in the Mynttorget area at the same time. Heightened security measures and localized traffic disruptions are expected around the rallies. Clashes between the two groups of protesters as well as between protesters, counterprotesters, and security forces cannot be ruled out.

Context

This is the final AfS rally before general elections will be held throughout the country on September 9.
