Italy: Pisa Airport evacuated due to wildfire September 25 /update 2

Event

On the afternoon (local time) of Tuesday, September 25, officials at Pisa International Airport (PSA) ordered the evacuation and closure of the airport due to a nearby wildfire. All flights at the airport have been cancelled until at least 19:40. In addition, at least 700 people were ordered to evacuate the towns of Calci and Vicopisano. The fire initially broke out in Monte Serra before spreading to the municipalities of Calci, Montemagno, and San Lorenzo e la Torre overnight on September 24-25. Further evacuations and road closures are possible as firefighters work to contain the fire.
