Around 1000 residents of Bihac protested on Monday, October 22, for the third consecutive day against a recent surge of migrants in the city, located on the border between Bosnia-Herzegovina and Croatia. Hundreds of migrants attempted to cross the border from Bosnia-Herzegovina into Croatia near the Maljevac border crossing on October 23, leading to scuffles with police who forced the migrants to return to camps located in Bihac and Velika Cladusa.

As such, further protests are possible in the coming days and weeks.

Context

According to local sources, between 3000 and 5000 migrants are currently residing in Bihac. Due to a lack of adequate infrastructure, hundreds live without shelter.
