Pakistan: Daily sit-in protests in Lahore from October 24

Media workers under the Joint Action Committee of journalists have been staging daily sit-ins outside the Lahore Press Club since Wednesday, October 25. They are set to take place daily at 16:00 (local time) until further notice. While these protests are expected to remain localized and small, scuffles between protesters and security forces cannot be excluded, nor can traffic disruptions in the immediate vicinity of the Press Club.

Context

The journalists are protesting against salary cuts and layoffs. Related nationwide protests took place on October 9 over the non-payment of salaries and the perceived tightened government grip on the media.
