Mexico: Severe weather in central and southern states Nov. 2

Officials have issued severe weather alerts in several Mexican states on Friday, November 2, due to the potential for flooding and hailstorms. The National Meteorological Service (SMN) warned that strong thunderstorms will impact the states of Veracruz and Yucatán, with gusts of up to 70 kph (43 mph), while the states of Guerrero, Michoacán, Puebla and Tabasco, will experience "short-term" storms. Authorities are preparing for landslides and overflowing rivers, with the potential to damage roads and cause transportation disruptions in low-lying urban areas.
