Heavy rain and flooding in various central provinces, notably Entre Ríos, Santa Fe, and Córdoba, November 12

Warning

Event

Torrential rain ongoing in central regions of the country since Sunday, November 11, has led to riverside flooding in the provinces of Entre Ríos, Santa Fe, and Córdoba as of Monday. At least one associated death, due to electrocution, has been reported in Paraná (Entre Ríos). In Córdoba province, the San Antonio River rose 7 m (23 ft) in several hours. In the town of Coronda (Santa Fe), where some 100 people have been evacuated, 25 cm (9 in) of rain fell in a 12-hour period. Power outages and road closures have been reported in some affected areas.

Storms are forecast to continue in the following provinces through Monday: Buenos Aires (including the city of Buenos Aires), Córdoba, Entre Ríos, northeastern La Pampa, San Luis, and southern and central Santa Fe.

Advice

Individuals in affected areas are advised to keep abreast of weather forecasts and of weather alerts via the national weather Service, the SMN. Remember that driving or walking through running water can be dangerous; 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock over an adult.
