According to a statement released by military officials on Tuesday, February 5, Burkinabe military forces launched simultaneous operations in Yatenga and Loroum (Nord region) and Kossi (Boucle du Mouhon region). Military reports indicate 146 jihadist militants were killed in airstrikes followed by a ground operation. Further military raids, as well as clashes between security forces and jihadist militants, are possible in northern Burkina Faso in the near term.
