Warning

Event

Flight operations are expected to return to normal at Rome's Ciampino G. B. Pastine International Airport (CIA) on the morning (local time) on Thursday, February 21. Aeroporti di Roma officials announced on Wednesday, February 20, that safety inspectors had cleared CIA to reopen following a fire at the airport. While CIA officials do not expect any further flight disruptions, residual delays are possible through Thursday.

Context

Aeroporti di Roma suspended all operations at CIA on February 19 after a small fire broke out in a warehouse near the departure terminal. All flights on February 20 were re-routed to Fiumicino International Airport (FCO) to allow safety inspectors to conduct air quality tests at CIA.

Advice

Individuals traveling to or from CIA are advised to confirm the status of their flights and to contact their airlines for further information.
