According to an initial statement released by Ethiopian Airlines, one of their Boeing 737 aircraft crashed near Bishoftu (Ethiopia) around 08:44 (local time) on Sunday, March 10. Airline officials believe that 149 passengers and eight crew members were onboard the flight from Addis Ababa to Nairobi (Kenya). Search and rescue operations are ongoing and the number of casualties has not been confirmed. Ethiopia’s prime minister did release a statement saying that there were fatalities from the crash.
