Ethiopian Airlines reported on the afternoon (local time) of Sunday, March 10, that there were no survivors from the plane that crashed after leaving Addis Ababa for Nairobi (Kenya) earlier in the day. The flight is believed to have been carrying 149 passengers and eight crew members. Air traffic controllers lost contact with the aircraft approximately 6 minutes after it left from Addis Ababa, which reportedly crashed near Bishoftu (located 50 km [31 mi] south of the capital). Emergency responders have deployed into the area and an investigation into the cause of the incident is ongoing.
