Italy: Flight disruptions expected May 3, 17 due to strike

Significant flight disruptions expected May 3 and 17 due to industrial action by airline and ground staff; confirm flights

Employees of Alitalia and Air Italy, as well as ground staff at airports across the country, have announced a strike for Friday, May 3. Air Italy employees are planning a 24-hour strike between 00:01 and 23:59 (local time), while personnel of Alitalia will strike at Roma Fiumicino Airport (FCO) between 12:00 and 16:00. Two additional strikes called by ground staff at airports across the country are scheduled to take place between 10:00 and 16:00 on this date.

In addition, ground staff at airports nationwide have called for a 24-hour strike between 00:01 and 23:59 on Friday, May 17.

As a result, delays, modified timetables, or last-minute cancelations are to be anticipated on May 3 and 17. Increased waiting times at affected airports are also possible.
