Italy: Transportation disruptions expected in Rome May 17 due to strike

Public transportation companies plan strikes in Rome May 17; widespread transportation disruptions expected in the capital and across the country

Staff at ATAC public transportation service and ROMA bus company are planning to hold a strike in Rome from 08:30 until 12:30 (local time) on Friday, May 17, as part of a general strike called across the country on the same day. The strike will affect all services provided by the two companies, including bus, tram, and subway services. A separate strike by employees of Trenitalia, Italo, and Trenord companies will also take place between 09:00 and 17:00 the same day and will affect train services across the country.

Widespread transportation disruptions and increased road traffic congestion are to be expected in Rome and across the country during the strike.
