A helicopter crashed onto the roof of 787 7th Avenue at 51st Street in Midtown Manhattan (New York City, New York state) on Monday afternoon (local time), June 10, killing the pilot. The crash-landing reportedly caused a fire at the site, which has since been extinguished. The building struck by the helicopter and neighboring buildings were evacuated as a precaution. Governor of New York Andrew Cuomo claimed there is no indication the apparent accident was linked to terrorist activity. Authorities have advised individuals to avoid the affected area. Road closures have been reported around the crash site. 

A heightened security presence and transportation disruptions are to be expected around the crash site over the coming hours.
