Santos Dumont Airport (SDU) to close main runway for repairs from August 18; confirm itineraries as flight operations reduced

Airport authorities announced on May 29 that the main runway at Rio de Janeiro's Santos Dumont Airport (SDU) will close for repair works over a 30-day period starting the week of Sunday, August 18. All LATAM flights will operate from Galeao International Airport (GIG). All other airlines will continue operating through SDU using a secondary runway.

Further limitations to flight operations are possible at SDU during the repair works. In adverse weather conditions, all flights will be diverted to GIG.
