US: Heavy rains and flash floods cause road closures in West Virginia June 30

Heavy rains and flash floods hit many parts of West Virginia on Sunday, June 30, causing flash floods. Various roads have been closed due to said floods and other type of damage, causing travel disruptions and delays. The governor also placed the Grant, Pendleton, Randolph, and Tucker counties under a state of emergency due to the extreme weather. Material damages have been reported in all aforementioned counties.

Transportation disruptions should be expected over the next several days.

Individuals in the affected areas are advised to monitor local weather reports, avoid areas directly affected by flooding, confirm road conditions prior to setting out, allow additional travel time, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities. It is important to note that that walking or driving through floodwaters can be dangerous; 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock over an adult.
