Canada: Calgary Stampede events July 5-14

Calgary will host the annual Calgary Stampede from Friday, July 5, through Sunday, July 14. Over 1 million people are expected to attend the events, which include a parade, rodeos, western shows, and performances from over 300 musicians. The Stampede will begin with a parade in downtown Calgary on July 5 from 09:00 (local time) until 13:00. Over 300,000 people are expected to watch the parade, which will result in several road closures and parking restriction. The route begins at the intersection of 9 Avenue SE and 1 Street SE and will proceed down 9 Avenue SW to 10 Street SW then back up 6 Avenue SW until ending at 3 Street SE. Calgary police have announced heightened security measures during the Stampede, including an increase in security cameras, concrete barriers at park entrances, and additional K-9 units.
