Heatwave forecast to hit Germany from July 22- 26; drink fluids and avoid outdoor and strenuous activities

Germany is forecast to experience high temperatures beginning Monday, July 22, through at least Friday, July 26. Temperatures are expected to rise up to 37°C (98.6°F) with nightly lows at 26° (78.8°F). Meteorological authorities have issued heatwave warnings in several regions for Monday, though are expected to issue more for the coming days. The Upper and High Rhine areas are expected to be the most affected.

Individuals in Germany are advised to monitor local weather reports, avoid strenuous activities or spending time outdoors, particularly during midday, wear loose-fitting clothing, drink plenty of water and avoid dehydrating liquids, such as alcoholic, sugary, or caffeinated drinks, and seek immediate medical attention if exhibiting symptoms of heat stroke, such as nausea, confusion, headache, rapid and strong pulse, and dry skin.
