The XVIII Pan American Games are to be held in the capital Lima from Friday, July 26, to Sunday, August 11, followed by the VI Parapan American Games held from Friday, August 23, to Sunday, September 1. While the opening ceremony for the Pan American Games is scheduled for July 26, preliminary rounds began on Wednesday, July 24. Around 9500 athletes will travel to Peru for the games along with tens of thousands of tourists expected to attend. Events will take place at sporting venues in and around the capital, including Villa Deportiva Nacional Videna (VIDENA), Villa Deportiva Regional del Callao, and the Estadio Nacional del Perú.
