At least four people, including three members of security forces and one civilian, were killed in three separate militant attacks in Diyala, Nineveh, and Saladin provinces on Saturday, September 7. In Diyala province, a sniper reportedly shot an intelligence official dead northeast of Baqubah. In Nineveh province, an explosion killed a soldier and an army officer in a house in Sinjar district. In Saladin province, a bomb detonated inside a civilian's vehicle, killing him, west of Samarra. No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attacks; the Islamic State (IS) group is known to operate in the areas.

Similar militant attacks are possible in the affected areas over the near term.
