Civil society groups have called for environmental protests in several cities on Friday, September 20, to bring attention to climate change ahead of the United Nations Climate Summit scheduled to take place in New York from Monday, September 23, to Friday, September 27. The protests will take place from 11:00 (local time) in Bratislava, Banská Bystrica, Košice, and Žilina.
In Bratislava, protesters are expected to gather at the Freedom square. In Banská Bystrica, participants will meet at the SNP square. In Košice, the protest is set to take place at Dolná Brána, while in Žilina it will take place at Mariánske square.
A heightened security presence and localized transportation and business disruptions are to be expected in the vicinity of all protests.
