Groups against Turkey’s ongoing military campaign call for several protests nationwide October 15-19 following clashes in Herne; avoid all protests
Event
Groups opposed to Turkey's ongoing military campaign in Syria have called for several protests, including a nationwide mobilization, from Tuesday, October 15, through Saturday, October 19. They are calling on the immediate end of the campaign in the northern region.
On Tuesday, protests are scheduled in Frankfurt at the central train station at 17:00 (local time), in Lübeck at the Adenauerstraße station at 17:00, and in Saarbrücken at the European Gallery at 18:00.
On Wednesday, October 16, a protest is scheduled in Schwienfurt at the Schillerplatz as of 17:30.
The nationwide mobilization will take place in Cologne as of 11:00, (local time), though a location has not yet been announced. Associated protests are likely in urban centers across the country.
Five people were injured at a related protest in Herne (North Rhine-Westphalia) on Monday, October 14. Clashes broke out in the evening during a related demonstration near a Turkish café. Clashes therefore cannot be ruled out. A heightened security presence is to be expected, as well as associated transportation disruptions at and near all demonstration sites.
Advice
Individuals in Germany are advised to monitor the situation and developments, avoid all protests as a precaution, expect delays, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
