Groups against Turkey’s ongoing military campaign call for several protests nationwide October 19 despite clashes; avoid all protests

A nationwide mobilization to express opposition for Turkey's ongoing military campaign in northern Syria has been called for Saturday, October 19. Protests have been announced in many German cities.

Associated protests are likely in other urban centers across the country. A heightened security presence is to be expected, as well as associated transportation disruptions at and near all demonstration sites. Clashes among protesters, as well as between protesters and police, cannot be ruled out. 

Context

Five people were injured at a related protest in Herne (North Rhine-Westphalia) on Monday, October 14. Clashes broke out in the evening during a related demonstration near a Turkish café. Clashes therefore cannot be ruled out. A heightened security presence is to be expected, as well as associated transportation disruptions at and near all demonstration sites.
