Rain-induced landslides prompt infrastructure damage in João Pessoa on February 3; transportation disruptions likely to continue

Heavy rain has prompted landslides and subsequent infrastructure damage in João Pessoa (Paraíba state) on Monday, February 3. Several homes were damaged, prompting the evacuation of some residents. Roads were also reportedly blocked and clearing operations were put into place on Monday to reopen the roads. There were additional reports of flooding and a fallen tree amid the heavy rains. No fatalities were immediately reported.

Consequent transportation disruptions are to be expected in affected areas over the coming days.
