Turkey: Fatalities confirmed following plane crash in Istanbul February 5 /update 2

Turkish health officials confirmed early (local time) on Thursday, February 6, that three people have died after a plane crash-landed at Istanbul's Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (SAW) around 18:19 (local time) on Wednesday, February 5. Another 179 passengers have required medical care following the accident. According to initial reports, the plane skidded off the runway after being unable to decelerate as it landed at SAW. An investigation into the accident is ongoing. 

The runway, which was closed following the accident, is expected to reopen to all flights at 04:00 on February 6. Residual flight disruptions are possible throughout Wednesday.  Up-to-date flight information can be found on the airport website here.
