The Million Moments for Democracy civil society group is planning rallies in Plzeň on Tuesday, February 25, and in Brno on Thursday, February 27. Plzeň's demonstration will start at Měšťanská Beseda from 16:30 to 18:30 (local time), followed by another protest at the Square of the Republic from 19:00-20:00. In Brno, protesters will gather outside the Office of the Public Defender of Rights on Údolní Street at 18:00 before marching to Jakubské Square at 16:30.
A heightened security presence and localized traffic disruptions are expected around any protest site.
Context
The Million Moments for Democracy student group has held several protests throughout the Czech Republic demanding the resignation of several government officials, particularly Prime Minister Andrej Babiš. Activists have called for the prime minister to resign by December 31, 2019. Hundreds of thousands of people participated in protests in June, August, and November 2019.
