A rocket attack on Al-Taji base (27 km [17 mi] north of Baghdad), host to US troops, killed two Americans and one British national and wounded over 11 others at around 19:35 (local time) on Wednesday, March 11. According to Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR) Spokesman Col. Myles B. Caggins III, more than 15 small rockets impacted the Camp Taji base. A related assessment and investigation have been opened.
Similar rocket attacks targeting military bases hosting US troops are possible in Iraq over the near term, as well as retaliatory strikes from OIR-coalition forces.
