Protesters gathered in Santiago on Sunday afternoon (local time), May 24, to denounce a shortage of food and aid during the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. Reports suggest that tires were burned and roadblocks set up as hundreds gathered in the Puento Alto commune. Security forces deployed to the area and dispersed crowds, and two demonstrators were reportedly arrested.
