State school teachers protested in Sao Paulo on Wednesday, July 29, against the return of face-to-face classes, scheduled to resume on September 8. Teachers also called for financial assistance amid the ongoing coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. The protest began around the Morumbi Stadium, before heading to the Palácio dos Bandeirantes. Many of the participants remained in their cars for the duration of the rally and drove the march route in order to ensure social distancing.

Further demonstrations over the issues are possible over the near term.
