Warning

Event

The Israeli Air Force (IAF) has reportedly carried out an airstrike in the city of Beit Hanoun (Gaza Strip) on Sunday, August 9, hours after an alleged attempted incendiary balloon attack on Israeli border communities. Reports indicate that the IAF airstrike targeted a Hamas observation post, while the balloon bomb exploded over the border fence. No casualties have been reported on either side.

The clashes come amidst a period of heightened tension between Hamas and Israel, as truce negotiations have reportedly stalled. On Saturday, August 8, a Hamas official allegedly stated that the group would resume their balloon bomb campaign in order to exercise pressure on the Israeli government.

Advice

Those in the Gaza Strip and areas of Israel bordering the territory are advised to monitor developments and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities and their home governments. Some Western governments advise their citizens against all travel to the Gaza Strip.
