Palestinian man shot by guards at Qalandiya checkpoint north of Jerusalem on August 17; potential for localized disruptions in near term

Guards at the Qalandiya West Bank checkpoint, north of Jerusalem, shot and wounded a Palestinian man on Monday, August 17. The civilian guards reportedly shot the pedestrian in the leg after he entered an area reserved for vehicular crossings and failed to respond to calls to stop. The man, who is believed to have had a hearing impairment, has since been transferred to hospital in a stable condition and police are investigating the incident.

Residual disruptions are possible at the Qalandiya checkpoint in the near term.
