Lebanon: Gunfire reported in Beirut's Tariq El Jdideh area September 7

Lebanese Armed Forces deployed to Beirut's Tariq El Jdideh neighbourhood on Monday evening, September 7, following reports of armed clashes. It was not immediately clear what the clashes were in relation to, although some sources have suggested that it may have been a family dispute. There were no immediate reports of casualties. Images on social media show armed personnel and vehicles in the area.

A heightened security presence is to be anticipated in the area in the near term, and further clashes cannot be ruled out.
